Fractal Compression Using Neural Networks

Abstract

Report presents results of applying fractal encoding method in conjunction with neural networks to compress digital images. Different neural network models were used, including backpropagation, smart networks and linear networks, too. Algorithm bases on the small image blocks and different methods of mapping from discrete image space to continuous space of neural network inputs. Last steps of compression process include quantization and entropy encoding.
