Fine-grained process synchronization
in multi-processors with the look-ahead
inter-processor connection setting

Abstract
Fine-grained process synchronization methods in multi-processor distributed memory systems with time-
constraint centralized control are discussed in the paper. Synchronization methods are presented which
enable a non-blocking synchronization of processes in many processor clusters in parallel for the needs of
a global control subsystem. They can be used for efficient synchronization of processes in programs with
non-deterministic control structures. The proposed solutions are applied for the control of parallel
programs execution according to a new paradigm. It is based on the dynamic look-ahead inter-processor
connection setting and assures time transparency of connection reconfiguration control during program
execution.
